In all cases where any change occurs in the extent or classification (zoning) of a potentially explosive atmosphere, or in the requirements applicable to the protection level of the equipment, or where the electrical or non-electrical equipment (or equipment assembly) is relocated from one location to another, it shall be verified that the type of protection, equipment group, and maximum surface temperature remain compliant with the modified conditions.
If it cannot be clearly established that the equipment intended for relocation has been certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, it shall be determined whether it is suitable for continued safe operation. For the purpose of ensuring correct operation and maintenance of the equipment, an assessment shall be carried out to determine its suitability for the intended purpose at the given location. It is important to emphasize that this assessment procedure may only be carried out for electrical or non-electrical equipment, equipment components, or equipment assemblies that were installed prior to the establishment of any requirements governing the use of certified electrical and/or non-electrical equipment intended for operation in potentially explosive atmospheres.
